Obituary

On September 16, 2024, Abelardo Mejia Garza entered into eternal rest at the age of 63.
Abelardo was born on April 29, 1961, in Cuidad Anachuac, Nuevo Leon, the son of Manuel Garza and Josefina Mejia. Abelardo was a ranch hand with the Ancira Family near Sabinas Hidalgo for several years. Abelardo migrated to the United states in 1995 where he met and married Graciela Elena Vera in December 26, 1996. In 12/14/2001, Abelardo became a permanent US resident. Abelardo was a loving husband, son, father. grandfather, brother in law and friend, He enjoyed being with family and friends in carne asadas or any other social gatherings.
Abelardo worked for Viduari Welding. Then working as a contract labor to Halliburton,Morales Machine Shop and other places, Abelardo got his CDL in May of 2007 and worked for several companies as a truck driver. He worked for Michael Stamer in Wilmar, MN during harvest season for several years. He drove for Select Energy, Salinas Trucking, Carbajal, Sal"s Trucking to mention a few. His last employment was with Frontera Dump Trucks. During his time of working as a truck driver he made a lot of friends that to this date admired him and respected. Some even called him papa or pa. Abelardo would gave a helping hand to who ever needed one.


He is preceded in death by his parents: Manuel Garza, mother Josefina Mejia: Uncles: Simon Garza, Raul Mejia, Miguel Mejia. Aunts: Guadalupe Garza, Luisa Garza, Ramona Garza


Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 27 yrs Graciela, daughter Elizabeth Garza Garza. son Abelardo Garza Garza (Yuliana) and step son Michael Anthony Vera (Aimee). Sister Rosa Vasquez Garza (Guillermo) and Guadalupe Castillo Garza, Grandchildren Abelardo Garza, Everardo Garza, Yuliana Garza, Abel Reyes Garza, numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a vigil of the deceased, officiated by Rev. Deacon Leonard Aguillon, will be held at 7 p.m in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. A chapel service will held in the funeral home chapel at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Funeral cortege will be departing at 9:30 a.m. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
