Adriana Laura Hernandez, "Audrey", as she was better known as, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021.

Audrey was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, on November 17, 1990 and was a lifelong resident. Audrey loved her children with all her heart and soul. She supported them in their education, sports and cheerleading activities. They were her world. She was an avid sports fan of baseball, softball and football. Her favorite teams, being the Boston Red Sox, The Lady Toros Softball Team, The Dallas Cowboys, but most important to her, were The Cigarroa Toros Football Team. Audrey's love of the Toros began when as a little girl, she would attend all the Toros football games, to accompany her grandmother, who was a parent volunteer, with the Cigarroa Cheerleaders and Silver Roses. During the 99-2000 season, Audrey convinced me, her father, to attend every game that season, because she knew that season was going to be special because of one player in particular, her hero and idol, Marcos Aranda. That year, the Cigarroa Toros made it to the 3 rd round of the state playoffs, becoming the first school in Laredo to reach that goal. Marcos became a big part of Audrey's motivation to attend and play sports at Cigarroa. Her devotion to the school became apparent years later when the District renovated the football field. During the construction of the field, Audrey came up with the idea of naming the field after Marcos Aranda, we approached our family friend, the Late Mr. Jesus Guerra, who was a Master Trustee of our District, on the LISD School Board and he led the way in getting the field named after Marcos. He asked me to get some information on Marcos and the Toros Football Team, so we could do a presentation, to the LISD Board, for that proposal, so I asked Audrey if she could do me the favor of getting that information. She said to me, hold on father, as she went to her room and came back with a binder full of newspaper clippings, official stat reports, pictures and everything related to Marcos and the team. She was nothing, if not resourceful, when it came to Marcos and the Toros. With that information alone, we convinced LISD to approve the motion to name the field after Marcos, Unanimously. All because she set her mind to it.
