AGUSTIN MENDIVE JR.

February 12, 1953 - October 25, 2025

Agustin Mendive, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of October 25, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was 72 and lived a life full of love.

Agustin was born on February 12, 1953 in Tampico, Tamaulipas and grew up in Laredo, Texas. He was a proud U.S. Marine, a devoted special education teacher, and above all, a loving father. Those who knew him will remember a man of few words, who was genuine and deeply caring.

He shared a lifelong bond of friendship and mutual respect with his former wife, Juana Edith Mendive, who remained by his side through the years. Together, they raised their son, Juan Sebastian, with love, patience, and strong family values. Agustin's caring nature extended to his son's sister, Genesis Leal (Alex Molina), whom he loved like family and who loved him the same.

Mr. Mendive is preceded in death by his parents Agustin Mendive and Ana Maria Moran de Mendive; his brothers Jose Antonio Mendive and Gerardo Mendive; his brothers-in-law Roberto Mendiola, Tim Butler, and Ricardo Mainero.

He is survived by his only child, Juan Sebastian Mendive and his daughter-in-law Berenice Mendive; his former wife and dear life-long friend, Juana Edith Mendive; his son's sister Genesis Leal (Alex and Madison Molina); and his step-grandchildren Rene Antonio Jimenez and Sebastian Jimenez.

He is also survived by his beloved sisters Ana Maria (Jorge) Mendez, Leonor Mendiola, and Carmina Butler; and by his many cherished nieces and nephews:
Fabian (Rocely) Mendive, Lizette Mendive (Gabriel) Gonzalez, Fayo Mainero, Barrie (Hector) Guerra, Roberto (Cristina) Mendiola Jr., Monica (Mario) Alegria, Noni (Eric) Rodriguez, Jorge Coqui Mendez, Gerardo (Barbara Rivera) Mendez, Antonio (Roxana) Mendez, and Elisa Mendez.

Also left to cherish his memory are his great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, other relatives, friends, and former students whose lives he touched.
