In Loving Memory of Alfredo Leal
Alfredo Leal was born on July 19, 1936 in Laredo, Texas, and passed away on July 3, 2026 at the age of 89.
Alfredo was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Celestina and Merced Leal; his sisters, Francisca Hernandez, Elena Sanchez, Belen Padilla; and his brothers, Ernesto Leal and Daniel Leal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Beatriz Lopez Leal, and his three children, Jorge Alfredo (Mary) Leal, Laura Yvonne Canales, and Elsa Lorraine (Jesus Alex) Davila; as well as his seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne (Brennen) Ramsey, Katheryn Marie Leal, Nicholas R. Canales, John Matthew Canales, Keanna Alexis Davila, Anissa Bianca Davila and Jesus A. Davila Jr., and one great grandchild, River Matthew Canales, whom they all brought him great pride and joy.
Alfredo attended local schools and proudly served his country. He joined the U.S. Air Force on June 4, 1956 and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1962. While he served, he was recognized and awarded for his dedicated service to the Air Force.
Soon after being discharged from the Armed Forces, he worked for Uniroyal Tire Company as an Industrial Relations Manager until his retirement in 1991. During his employment with Uniroyal, he pursued higher education by attending evening classes and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&I University at Laredo in 1977.
After retiring from Uniroyal, he continued to work for six years as an Immigration Inspector with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. Then, he worked part-time at Jesus A. Davila, P.C., owned by his son-in-law.
Alfredo will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, a proud veteran, a hardworking professional, and a man who valued education, service, and family. His strength, integrity, and quiet determination left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Hernandez Lopez Funeral Home on July 14, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by mass at San Luis Rey Church and interment at Laredo Veterans Cemetery. Military Honors and the presentation of the U.S flag were provided by the U.S Air Force and the Laredo Veteran's Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Jorge Alfredo Leal, John Matthew Canales, Jesus A. Davila, Jr., Nicholas R. Canales, Jesus Alex Davila, and Javier Perez Jr.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. The family also thanks the Veteran Affairs and his medical team for their continued care and support.
Alfredo's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends and all whose lives he touched.
