On Thursday, April 11, 2019, Alicia Garza Ortiz, loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, was called back to her rightful home at the age of 61.

Alicia was born on November 25. 1957 in Brownsville, Texas to Armando and Alicia Garza. She grew up in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas and created her life in Laredo, Texas.

Alicia is a ray of light. She is caring, generous, and made everybody smile. Her beautiful soul has always been infectious and uplifting. She had an appreciation for celebrating life that she was proud to share with her family and friends. She is loved by everybody who had the pleasure to know her. There will never be another woman like her. Although she is gone, Alicia Garza Ortiz has been and will always remain in our hearts.

Alicia is survived by her parents, Armando and Alicia Garza, her siblings, Armando Garza Jr., Auriela G. Saldana (Ovidio), (+) Gerardo Garza (Martha), and Myrthala Garza. Her husband, Alfonso R.  Ortiz Jr. and sons, Luis E. Flores Jr. (Jenny and her granddaughter Sophia), Alejandro O. Flores, and Alfonso R. Ortiz, III. will continue to live the way she did: full of love and passion.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. a second visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2019. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Committal services will be held at a later date.
