Obituary

MS. ANA MARIA BRIGHTMAN Ms. Ana Maria Brightman passed away on September 27, 2015 supported by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ana Maria Brightman and her step father Joseph M. Brightman. She is survived by her cousins, Christina (Fermin) Vasquez, Florencio (Maria) Garcia, Raul "Rule" (Nora) Garcia, Guillermo "Willie" Garcia, and especially her close friends and prayer warriors she considered her family, Vicky Rodriguez, Cheryl McClure, Rosie (Dwight) Billman, Ninfa Molina, Vicenta Gutierrez, Maria Ochoa, Raquel Ochoa, Sylvia Molina and Olga Molina. Ms. Brightman was born in Monterrey, NL, and at 6 years of age, moved to Laredo, where she had been a life long resident. She graduated from Martin High School, Class of 1967. She was later employed, at the Texas Mental Health and Retardation Center, where she dedicated 15 years of service, working with the Children and Adolescence Program (CAPS). Her most recent employment was with AMA (Alcohol and Methadone) program, as a Chemical Dependency Counselor, where she planted the seeds of hope and encouragement, in the minds and spirits of those struggling with overcoming their addiction. She also served as an extraordinary Communion Minister at her parish, Divine Mercy Catholic Church. She enjoyed cook outs, spending time with her friends, collecting books and bringing laughter to those around her with her "chistes" and "dichos". Though she was a person with a strong will, she had a special regard for the poor, struggling families and children she served through her work; often times buying them clothes and toys. Special gratitude and appreciation goes to her caregivers Lucy Arredondo and Karina Castro for their patience, support and compassion, as well as to her home health nurse Cindy Flores. Her family would also like to thank Dr. Oscar Gutierrez, Dr. Carlos Espinoza and the nurses and staff of the Laredo Dialysis Center. We would also like to acknowledge the nurses and staff at Regent Care Café Wing, who tirelessly demonstrated their professionalism and care. A very special thanks to those who provided spiritual support and guidance, especially Father Michael De Leon and Father Miguel Orzua from Divine Mercy Catholic Church and Monsignor Alex Salazar from San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Nrthside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
