ANTONIO LAURO ELIZALDE JR. Antonio Lauro Elizalde Jr., 64, passed away at his residence on Tuesday,May 22, 2012. Mr. Elizalde was born in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas Mexico and had been a resident of Laredo most of his life. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the the United States Navy from November 21, 1967 until being honorably discharged on November 28, 1972. While serving he was assigned to the USS Rogers and had been decorated with the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star on February 3, 1968 He was also the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. After his tour of duty he returned to Laredo and served with the Laredo Police Department for a number of years during the 1970's up until his retirement. He also was an active member of the local VFW. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Leonila H. Elizalde, by his first wife Rebakay Case, his second wife Mariann "Shorty" Hightower Elizalde. He is survived by his daughters Laura Michelle (Roberto) Lozano Jr. and Teani Elizalde. His grandchildren; Maya K. Lozano and Lucian S. Lozano. Sister: Carmaen Elizalde (Alfredo) De Los Santos. He is also survived by his nephews, numerous other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning May 26, 2012. The family will begin receiving family and friends at 9 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church located 1704 Sandman. A rosary will be recited beginning at 9 a.m. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at San Martin De Porras Catholic Church. Committal services will be held following Mass at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full military Honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 59. The family would like to invite family and friends for refreshments at the San Martin de Porras Hall upon the conclusion of the cemetery ceremonies.
