ANTONIO J. "TONY" GARCIA Mr. Antonio J. "Tony" Garcia, 83, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Garcia was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He is a veteran of the Korean War in which he served with the United States Air Force and reached the rank of Staff sergeant. He finished his tour of duty and was honorably discharged in 1959. He returned to Laredo and was employed as Chief Deputy Tax collector with the City of Laredo for sometime up until his retirement. Life after his retirement was spent with friends playing pool and having coffee. He had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. He also was a "Jack of all trades" and partook of any task that he could. His greatest joy was his grandson, in which he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Hector Antonio Garcia and by his brother Hector S. Garcia and by his parents Santiago Garcia and Estefana P. Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years of marriage Alicia P. Garcia. By his daughter Adriana Garcia Vasquez. and by his grandson Hector Antonio Vasquez. Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
