ANTONIO MARTINEZ Antonio Martinez, 100, was born in Zapata, Texas, in 1914, the 8th of 11 children of Jose Cesario and Eusebia Flores Martinez. He worked hard all his life to provide and care for his family as a welder with United Gas/Entex. His strong work ethic and commitment to his wife, Ofelia, of 70 years and family lives on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Jesus Ruben Martinez, his great grandson, Ronaldo M. Rangel, his parents and his 10 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Juarez Martinez, his children, Gloria (Marcelino) Rangel Jr., Consuelo (Ricardo) Herrera, Herminia Gonzalez, Sylvia Martinez and Antonio (San Juanita) Martinez, Jr. Also surviving him are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and other close relatives, neighbors and friends. His wife and family would like to express their appreciation for his long time physician, Joaquin Cigarroa, Jr., as well as his other doctors over the years, particularly Carlos Cigarroa, Leo Cigarroa, Jr. and Arthur Santos. They Also want to thank Laredo Home Health and Hospice and their nurses and therapists, especially nurse Adriana Ramirez, as well as his caregivers Nora and Diana for showing great care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
