Obituary

"I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes into Me, even if he should die, shall live" John 11:25 Armandina Oralia (Oby) Galn, 75, was called to be with our dear Lord Jesus Christ on February 14, 2015 in Laredo, Texas. Oby, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Hebbronville, TX on November 18, 1939. She was a lifelong resident of Laredo, TX, lived a long full life and enjoyed many blessings. She is preceded in death by her dear loving husband of 54 years, Gilberto Minton Galan, her parents, Francisco Santiago and Antonia Palacios Ramirez Sr., her in-laws, Gilberto G. and Juanita Minton Galan, her grandmother Josefa Dominguez Palacios, her sister Amanda Olga Ramirez, her nephew Thomas Francis Sullivan III., her niece Leslie Catherine Sullivan, and her brother-in-law Thomas Francis Sullivan Jr. She is survived by her five children: Patricia Graciela (Carlos) Castillo of Laredo, TX, Roxana Lorraine Galan of Alexandria, VA; Gilberto Minton (Araceli) Galan, Jr. of Laredo, TX, Ricardo Rene (Iliana) Galan of Katy TX, and Rebecca Adriana (Raul) Maldonado of Laredo, TX. She is also survived by the following: Twelve grandchildren: Carlos "Chito" Gilberto Castillo, Vanessa Cristina Castillo (Mike Barrera), Roxanne Nina Castillo (Guillermo) De Santos, Cassandra Lian Castillo, Stephanie Denise Galan, Jennifer Kathleen (William) Moss, Gilberto Minton Galan III, Amanda Lea Galan, Ricardo Rene Galan Jr., Raul Maldonado Jr., Lisa Catherine Maldonado, and Rene E. Maldonado. Six great grandchildren: Catherine Amanda De Santos, Emily Alina De Santos, Autumn Grace Barrera, Alexander Dante Moss, Vincent Castillo, and Calix Roman Castillo. Diana (Hector) Valdes of Del Rio, TX (sister), Francisco (Carmen) Ramirez Jr. of San Antonio, TX (brother), Sandy Sullivan of Round Rock, TX (niece), Jessica Ruby Obregon (Charlie) Botello of Round Rock, TX (niece), and Isabella Palacios of Laredo, TX (aunt). Sisters-in-law: Irma (Ernesto) Ballesteros of McAllen, TX, Minerva (Donald) Burton of Lake Jackson, TX and brother-in-law Geraldo Galan of Lake Jackson, TX. Lifelong friend, Aaron (Elvira) Dominguez of Laredo, TX, plus numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many other close family and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. A Liturgy of the Word will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Deacon David Vargas. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Laredo City Cemetery Veterans Section.
