ARMANDINA R. "MANDY" VELA Armandina R. "Mandy" Vela, 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Vela was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. She was an employee of H.E.B. for many years up until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her husband Armando Vela, by her sister Esther Lopez and by her parents Antonio R. Hinojosa and Esther R. Hinojosa. "Thank you Mother for dedicating your life to me. I will always embrace your strength and courage. Your undying love for your grandchildren will always be treasured." She is survived by her daughter Marissa V. (Rodolfo Jr.) Morales. Grandchildren: Rodolfo Morales III and Selina M. (Steven) Cornell. Great-grandchildren; Owen Ryder Cornell. Sisters, Alicia Flores (Amador) and Irma Dominguez (Ramon, dec'd) and Twin sister, Diamantina Lopez (Florencio). Also surviving her are nephews, nieces, numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
