ARMANDO ISIDRO ARCE Armando Isidro Arce, 89, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at a local hospital. Mr. Arce was born on October 27, 1924 in Laredo, Texas and had been a resident for all of his life. He attended and graduated from Martin High School in 1948. On July 1943, he was drafted by the United States Army at the young age of 19 and served with the Northern Combat Area Command APO 689. Throughout his tour of duty, he served in China, Burma and India . In November 1945, he was honorably discharged as a United States Army Sergeant. He was decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Victory Ribbon, Marksmen Medal, Sharpshooter Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Drivers and Mechanic Medal. He worked for General Motors Truck and Coach for 30 years in Pontiac, Michigan and then retired in 1977. He is preceded in death by his parents, Isidro Arce and Rosalia Rendon Arce. Sons, Donald Barrett and Dale Barrett. Siblings, Alfredo Arce, Aurora (Jean) Sanchez, Josephina Segovia and Antonio (Rosario) Arce. Brother-in-Law, Lucio Vidaurri. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years of marriage, Ina Beverly Arce. Children, Patricia (Joe) Sinko, Leslie Daniels, Christina (James) Kaiser, Rosalia (Jason) Leyendecker and Lisa (David) Garcia. 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Brother, Abel (Hilda) Arce. Sister, Anita Vidaurri. Brother-in-Law, Andres Segovia. Also surviving him are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
