ARMANDO "BUDDY" MORENO
On Friday, August 23rd 2024, Our Lord called upon a great man, Armando Moreno,78. Mr. Moreno succumbed to his battle with cancer for four years. He passed away surrounded by the people he loved, his family.
"El Buddy", as he was affectionately known by his family and friend was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, he spend a few years in Detroit, Michigan with his family and was employed there with the Ford Motor Company. As a young man he was very active in sports, he reached the level of Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu but had to leave it due to injury, he took up running to stay in shape and still enjoyed partaking in Sports. During his latter years he returned to Laredo had been employed by Laredo Community College in the maintenance department up until his retirement. His favorite pastime after retirement was fishing, he never missed the opportunity to hook one. He was an avid Fan of the Dallas Cowboys and never missed a game or sporting event. He also loved spending time at South Padre Island with his family and enjoying a good Carne Asada and a cold one. And last but not least he loved and enjoyed enjoyed his "maquinitas" especially going to Kickapoo and Windstar. The family will miss him and his character very much.
He is preceded in death by his mother Anita Moreno Guerra, by his mother and father in law Raul Garza and Juanita M. Garza and by aunt Margarita "Mague" (Leopoldo) Gomez and by his uncles Francisco Moreno and Chema Moreno and cousin John Moreno.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, of marriage, Dora G. Moreno.
His children, Leticia "Letty" Moreno, Roberto Xavier (Martha) Moreno, Armando (Sandra) Moreno, Jr., Domingo Jesus Moreno, Cecilia Posada, Tanya (Leo) Posada and Carla Sanchez.
Grandchildren, Armando "Mandito" (Luis) Moreno-Gonzalez, Roberto "Bobby " Moreno, Vicente "Chente" (Anelli) Moreno, Cedric Moreno and Devinny Moreno.
Great-grandchildren, Diandra Moreno and Alejandro Moreno.
His brother and sister, Gabriel (Francis) Guerra and Adela Tellez.
Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels, 800 Boston St and San Bernardo Ave. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal Services and interment then followed in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS WERE: Roberto "Rubi" Moreno, Armando "Chino" Moreno, Bobby Moreno, Armando "Mando" Moreno, Griselda "Kitty" Martinez, Luis Gonzalez, Carlos "Charlie" Garza , Domingo "Mingo" Moreno, and Vicente "Chente" Moreno.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the Start Cancer Center, Dr. Lon Smith and his assistant Bonnie and to the Laredo Cancer Society for all their assistance. Also to Altus Hospice Dr. Mahani and his RN Marqui and their CNA Lupita for their constant care and attentiveness.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave.
