ARTURO C. "EL GUERO VACAS" RODRIGUEZ
Arturo C. "El Guero Vacas" Rodriguez, 75, crossed over into the light on Friday, December 25, 2015 at a local hospital.
Mr. Rodriguez was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident enjoying the ranching way of life. He is also known, recognized, and honored by the Sovereign Cherokee Nation Tejas as ThunderHawk. As a citizen of the SCNT, a Cherokee tradition funeral ceremony will be integrated into the usual and customary funeral & burial services.
He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Raul Rodriguez, Rafael Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez, Petra R. Santos, Maria R. Elias, Emma Barraza, Consuelo Perez, Alicia Bustamante, Delia Hernandez, Maria Jensen, Rebecca Zamora, Martha Hernandez, Graciela Reyes, Humberto Elias, Jesus Elias and Juan Rodolfo Elias.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years of marriage, Maria P. Rodriguez.
Sons and daughters, Chief Greywolf (Jenny Cortes Mathieú), Christina Fracchia (Hugo Rolando Salinas), Noel (Sonia) Rodriguez and Jorge (Celia) Rodriguez.
Grandchildren, Bernardo Martinez, III, Jessica Mari (Julio) Martinez, Noel Rodriguez Jr., Johnny Rodriguez, Jacob Rodriguez, Alexis H. Rodriguez, Alyssa N. Rodriguez and Ashlyn M. Rodriguez.
Great grandsons, Julio Cesar Martinez Jr., Jaiden Martinez, Jaylee Martinez and Joshua Jaden Martinez.
Brothers and sisters, Eva Hernandez, Esther Moreno, Sara Mata, Leticia Gonzalez, Minerva Morin, Elida Garcia, Jose Elias and Fernando Elias.
Also surviving him are other relatives, friends and brothers, from the Native American Community and will be missed by the same.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
