Obituary

ASTA WIECHERT VEGA

Asta Wiechert Vega was  a wise, energetic and well-traveled woman and lit up the room wherever she went. She was born on November 1, 1929 in Berlin, Germany and passed away at 95 years young on November 3, 2024.  She grew up during WW2 and survived many hardships.  She met and married Joe Vega in Germany and soon after moved to the United States.

As a career woman, she worked her way up in Avon Products, becoming a Director at a young age.  She managed and motivated her own sales team for South Texas.  While working for Avon Products, she  won multiple awards for maintaining highest number sales in the nation during 1967-1993.


She loved reading, writing, singing, acting, taking care of animals, swimming, silversmithing, and teaching Tai Chi at the hospital.  She was a talented actress and singer in the Little Laredo Theater.  As an active member in the Laredo Humane Society, she found many animals a home or adopted them herself.


She was a member of the United Methodist Church. You would often catch a glimpse of her hat adorned elegance on Sunday or at brunch with her close friends at the Holiday Inn.

She is preceded in death by her father Max Wiechert and mother Gertrude Elbeck.She is survived by her children John Michael Vega (son), Asta Tita Vega (daughter).  Grandchildren, Venessa M. Aguilar, Sammy B. Neria, Ana Lisa Hernandez, Monica A. Neria, Celia A. Aldape, Blencia L. Neria. Great grandchildren, Anacelia T. Aguilar, Alyssa M. Neria, Frank C. Aguilar, Alejandro I. Neria, Christopher R. Lariz, Briana M. Lariz, Marissa A. Aguilar, Cora Davis, Ana K. Alpade, and Eve E. Aldape.

Visitation is Friday November, 8  2024 from 4:00 .pm.-.9:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service officiated by Pastor Guadalupe Puente Jr will be officiated at 7:00 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapel, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. in Laredo, TX 78041. Funeral Services will begin Saturday morning November 9, 2024 with a Religious Service officiated by Pastor Guadalupe Puente Jr. held at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Committal Services and interment will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave.
