A mother’s love never ends.

Aurora G. Guzmán, 84, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 20, 2026. She was born in Laredo, Texas. She was part of a large and loving family, where she was a quiet example of kindness and compassion to those who knew her.Aurora’s family was her greatest blessing, and she cherished them by creating a home filled with love and togetherness. She loved each of her children immeasurably and adored her grandchildren. A woman of great faith, Aurora found comfort in prayer. She was a devout Catholic and a catechist for several years, touching the lives of many.She found happiness in simple things. Music always filled her home—especially her beloved Sonora Santanera, which she loved to sing and dance to. Dogs always brought a smile to her face. Aurora was a great cook and also enjoyed working on puzzles and reading books.Aurora is preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 49 years, Erasmo Miguel Guzman Sr., who passed away November 2009.

Also preceeding her in death were her parents, Alberto and Aurora S. Gutierrez; her brothers, Arturo (Maria) Gutierrez, Alberto Gutierrez Jr., Victor (Maria) Gutierrez, and Luis (Adela) Gutierrez; her sister, Anita (Ernesto) Perez; and her mother-in-law, Guadalupe G. Guzmán.

She is survived by her seven children: Helen Montoya, Diana S. (Juan Jose) Díaz, Yolanda Isabel Guzmán, Erasmo Miguel (Maria Guadalupe) Guzmán Jr., Jose Raul (Sylvia) Guzmán, Ana Laura (Jesus) Quiroz and Olga Lydia (Jose) Manzano; 14 grandchildren: Marissa, David, & Barbara Montoya; Claudia (Mark) Miller, Johnny (Diana) Díaz, Esteban (Yessica) Díaz; Carlos (Adriana) Guzmán, Laura, Eduardo D. & Monica Guzmán; Nicolas Quiroz; Kristina & Klarissa Guzmán; and Alejandro Miguel Manzano; 14 great-grandchildren & one great-great-granddaughter.Also surviving her are three sisters: Lucila Martinez, Josefina (Ezequiel†) Garza, & Maria Emilia (Ramon†) Treviño; sister-in-law Ana Maria (Osvaldo†) Guzmán; as well as numerous relatives and friends.Mrs. Guzmán is also survived by her caregiver of over 7 years, Sherry Macias. The family is very grateful for Ms. Macias’ dedication, care and love for their mother.

The family would also like to give thanks to Mrs. Guzmán’s additional caregivers: Yvonne Ramirez, Mari Puente, and Amanda Alvarado; as well as Laredo Hospice staff and Dr. Tyler King.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
