Obituary

BASILIO G. LARA JR.
Basilio G. Lara Jr., 76, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Lara was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a lifelong resident. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and worked as a Test Driver for Uniroyal Goodrich for 25 years. For several years, he also worked as a Driver for El Aguila Transportation, City of Laredo Public Works, Solid Waste Services and as a Heavy Equipment Operator, before retiring. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Basilio and Dolores Lara.
Brother, Roberto Lara.
Brother-in-Law, Raul Morales Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia D. Lara.
Children, James (Christy) Lara, Danny (Cindy Peña) Lara, Ruby (Salvador Jr.) Alvarez and Jessica Lara.
8 grandchildren, Brianna Lara, James Henry Lara, Karianna Lara, Arlyn Alvarez, Marlyn Alvarez, Salvador Alvarez IV, J.D. Alvarez and Becca Alvarez.
Brother, Jesus (Maria) Lara and Twin Brother, Arturo (Concepcion) Lara.
Sisters, Maria (Santos) Pompa, Genoveva Morales.
Sister-in-Law, Gloria Lara.
Also surviving him are numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to Nurse, Juan Pablo "JP" Lopez, his Caregiver, Maria Lourdes Zamora, NSCL, The City of Laredo Fire Department and to the Doctors and Staff at Brooke Army Medical Center Burn Unit, The Laredo Red Cross and all of Mr. Lara's neighbors, for their compassion and care.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
