BESSIE RONE (GARZA) BALLADARES Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt has completed her journey on this earth, and now rests with her Lord. Former Laredoan Bessie Rone (Garza) Balladares, 95, passed away July 3rd, 2012 at a Houston, Texas skilled nursing facility. Bessie was born in Laredo, Texas on February 16, 1917, to Fernanda and Edward Duke Rone. She was educated in the local public school system and was a member of the first graduating class of the brand new Martin High School in 1937. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Erasmo Garza (1949) and second husband, Victor Balladares (1995), brother Earl Rone (2012), and brother in law Raul V. Cantu (1991). She leaves behind seven children, all former Laredoans: Melinda Garza Cantu (Blas), Harlingen, Texas, Roberto E. Garza (Hortencia), Coppell, Texas, Thelma Garza Martinez (Henry), Dublin, Ohio, David Balladares (Dalia Perez), Sugarland, Texas, Ricardo Balladares (Alice), Austin, Texas, Oscar Balladares (Katherine), San Antonio, Texas, and Michael Balladares, Austin, Texas. Other special family members include her sister, Mabel Rone Cantu, Roanoke, Texas, sister in law, Betty Gatica Rone, Mexico City, Mexico, nieces Cynthia Cantu Trichel (Doug), Roanoke, Texas, Maria Delfina Cantu Garza (Ricardo), Houston, Texas, and Dora Botello Balladares, Austin, Texas. As her legacy, she leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge and express our deep appreciation to Mom's two faithful and loyal caregivers for the past two years, Monica Hurtado and Catalina Padilla. No local services will be held. A memorial service will be set at a future date.
