CARLOS JOSE CARRANCO SR.
Carlos Jose Carranco Sr., 93, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 in Laredo, Texas.
Mr. Carranco Sr., was born in Laredo, Texas, and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Martin High School. Upon graduation, Mr. Carranco Sr. took advantage of the newly created Laredo Junior College and was part of the first graduating class of 1949. He then attended Texas A&M University, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education, from Texas A&I, in Kingsville, where he also received his Master Degree, in Education Administration. He was an educator for 42 years, at a number of local schools, including Christen Junior High, Martin High School and Laredo Community College. The last twenty six years of his career were as Principal at Thomas Sanchez Elementary School, the largest school in the district, and at Santa Maria, the smallest. Mr. Carranco was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII as a Combat Infantryman and was duly decorated. He was Honorably Discharged in May of 1946. He will be dearly remembered and missed by all whose live he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo G. Carranco and Guadalupe Alaniz Carranco.
Mother of his children, Gloria M. Carranco.
Brother, Francisco Carranco.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 15 years of marriage, Bessie Lee Carranco. Children, Carlos (Diana) Carranco Jr., Chendo (Mary) Carranco, Thelma C. (Gustavo) Acevedo.
Step-Sons, Robert (Jeannette) Black and Allan (Jenette) Black.
7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Brother, Antonio Carranco.
Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
