CARLOS "Chale" P. PENA Carlos "Chale" P. Pena, , passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at his residents in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Pena was born and raised in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. "Chale" as he was known by all his friends and relatives was a professional baseball player in the Mexican Baseball League. He played with the Tecolotes who won the Championship in 1954. He also belonged to the Mejico Diablos Rojos Baseball team of Nuevo Laredo . He was also a professional musician and well known in Laredo for his beautiful voice. He was the leader of the "Coro de Cursillistas " for over 30 years. A practical joker at heart he was known by his family to constantly play practical jokes on them unsuspectedly and who also had a joke or two to tell. He will be missed by all his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Librado and Francisca Pena, Brothers, Humberto Pena, Librado Pena Jr., and Oralia Pena, 1st wife Maria Teresa Montate Pena, Son, Guillermo Pena. He is survived by his Loving wife of 14 years, Maria R "Sanjui" Pena. Children,Carlos (Juanita) Pena Jr., Irma Pena, Maria Teresa (Danny) Lopez, Step Sons, Dr. Juan Zavala and Gabriel (Eliza) Zavala. 12 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great great Grandchildren Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas St. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning , August 5, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel at 8:05 a.m. Holy Mass will be celebrated at San Luis Rey catholic Church at 8:30 a.m. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
