CARLOS PADILLA
Carlos Padilla, 87, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Mr. Padilla was born in Laredo, Texas and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Padilla was a graduate of Martin High School, 1956, which was the year they won state finals. "Once a Tiger always a Tiger." He was a member of a dance group which participated in numerous dance contests and was known as "El Mambo Dancer". He was a veteran of the United States Army and after serving his tour of duty, he served as Captain of the Webb County Sheriff's Department, under Sheriff Mario Santos and Sheriff Juan Garza. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years of marriage, Belen Leal Padilla.
Parents, Genaro Padilla and Amelia H. Padilla.
Brothers, Genaro Padilla Jr., Arnulfo Padilla, Daniel Padilla, Ricardo Padilla and Eziquiel Padilla.
He is survived by his children, Rosalinda (Oscar Morales) Padilla-Morales, Carlos Abel (Cynthia) Padilla and Marisela (Jesus) Castro.
Grandchildren, Rosalynn Ann (Raul) Gonzalez, Rene Gerardo Velasquez Jr., Marlene Cabrera, Carlos Abel Padilla Jr., Courtney Rene Padilla, Marco Allen Padilla and Christina Amber Castro.
Great grandchildren, Erick Velasquez and Nathan McCoy Velasquez.
Sisters, Graciela P. Garcia, Maria Guadalupe Gutierrez and Rosalia Padilla.
Nephew, Gerardo "Jerry" Garcia.
Also surviving are other nieces , nephews, the Sanchez Family, Leal Family, Gutierrez Family, Garcia Family, Hernandez Family, De Leon Family, Ortiz Family, other family members and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 departing from the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave
. Holy Mass was celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed at the Laredo City Cemetery (Veteran's Section) with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 59 and presentation of the United States Flag by the United States Army Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were: Carlos A. Padilla, Jesus H. Castro, Oscar Morales, Carlos A. Padilla Jr., Marco Padilla, Rene Gerardo Velasquez, Jorge Sanchez and Gerardo "Jerry" Garcia.
Honorary Pallbearers: Raul Gonzalez and Eloy Morales.
