Obituary

Carmela Andrews Rodriguez Carmela entered into eternal rest after her battle with cancer on Saturday, March 28, 2015 surrounded by her family and beloved friends. She was born on June 24, 1946 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Rodriguez worked as a Para-professional in various schools for Laredo Independent School District for 20 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great friend and sister to her siblings. She volunteered for a brief period at Doctor's Hospital in the gift shop where she enjoyed doing crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo Gray and Aurora Molina Andrews and brothers, Alonzo, George and Andres Andrews. She is survived by her loving children, Analicia (Gene) Belmares, Araceli (Raul) Buenrostro, Tina (SFC Theodore, US Army, Ret.) Garcia, her beloved grandchildren, Fernando (Maggie) Garcia, III, Joshua Belmares (Barbara Medina), Cynthia (Joe) Marin, Jacob Belmares, Jessica Belmares, Jeremiah Belmares, Rebecca Buenrostro, Justin Garcia, Jordan Belmares and Jason Garcia. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Aidan J. Garcia, Rihanna Garcia, Fernando Garcia, IV, Lauren A. Garcia and Jayleen L. Marin. Also surviving her are Ramiro Perez and Ricardo Rodriguez, the fathers of her children, her brother Arturo (Cheryl) Andrews, sister, Elma A. Flores of Los Angeles, CA, and sister-in-law, Irma Andrews. She will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and her caregiver, Silvia Barroso and by Frances and Ricardo Perez and Elsa Valdez, longtime friends. The family extends their sincere gratitude to her doctors who fought along with her during her illness, Dr. Eduardo Miranda, Dr. John Kinect, Dr. Carlos Cigarroa, Dr. Benson Huang and Dr. Armando Hinojosa and Altus Hospice for her care in the last days. The family will receive visitors at Hernandez, Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Church and committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
