Obituary

CATALINA DE LA ROSA
Catalina De La Rosa, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at her home after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Mrs. De La Rosa was born on the 13th of February, 1927 in Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Francisca and Miguel Sandoval. She was an Educator in Mexico for many years before moving to Laredo, Texas. She married Gregorio De La Rosa Sr. on March 17, 1964. They raised two sons and one daughter. Mrs. De La Rosa will always be remembered as a loving and faithful mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She would do anything for her family, especially for her beloved pride and joys, her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, of 50 years of marriage, Gregorio De La Rosa Sr.
By her son, Gregorio De La Rosa Jr.
Parents, Miguel and Francisca Sandoval, as well as by her sister, Cuquita Zamora.
Left to cherish her beloved memory are her daughter, Zulema (Raul) Salazar and her son Guillermo (Deidra) De La Rosa Sr.
Her grandchildren, Raul Zachary Salazar, Zulema Bernadette Salazar, Johann Zebastian Salazar, Katherine Abigail Salazar, Alyssa Ashley De La Rosa, Guillermo De La Rosa Jr., Michael Andrew De La Rosa, Cynthia Deanna De La Rosa, Catalina De La Rosa, Priscilla Rose De La Rosa and Alexandra De La Rosa.
Sisters, Elodia Perez and her family and Lydia Gonzalez and family.
Her K9 friend, Manix.
Also surviving her are nephews, nieces, sister-in-Law, brother-in-Law, other relatives and many friends.
The De La Rosa's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nurses on Wheels, especially to Vicky Gonzalez also to Killam Elementary, Cigarroa High School, Mary Lou Tijerina and Jeannie Guerra for all their prayers and support.
Mrs. Catalina De La Rosa, a strong advocate to Education, is the grandmother of Raul Zachary Salazar who is a teacher at Cigarroa High School  . In honor of Mrs. De La Rosa the family respectfully requests,  in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory  to  The Cigarroa High School Scholarship Fund, 2600 Zacatecas St. (956) 795-3800
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services will be held at a later date
