Obituary

Craig Lawrence passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on June 14, 2025, in Laredo, Texas. He leaves behind family and friends who will deeply miss his gift for bringing people together, his sharp sense of humor, his unwavering optimism, and his unconditional love and friendship.

Craig was born in 1965, in Weslaco, Texas, to Jon Dee and Rolinda Lawrence. Over the course of his life, he called many cities home, including Weslaco, Houston, San Antonio, St. Louis, Little Rock, Dallas, Austin, and Laredo. He spent 35 years of his life in Laredo, where he will be greatly missed.

Craig graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin, it was there that his love for Texas Longhorn sports truly took root. He later received his law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law.

Craig began his legal career in Laredo as a Law Clerk to Federal Magistrate Judge Marcel C. Notzon, and under the mentorship of Federal Judge George P. Kazen. Craig then entered into private practice by opening his own law firm where he shared office space with Marcel Notzon III. During this time, it strengthened his relationship where he became a member of the Notzon family. Craig dedicated himself to helping countless clients with compassion and integrity. Beyond his legal career, Craig showcased his multifaceted talents by co-founding a business alongside his extended Laredo family Grace, Ramon, and Alex.

Craig had a passion for travel which included destinations across the United States and around the world. One of his favorite activities was scuba diving in the Caribbean with the Dead Fly Divers and Bahama Mamas.

Craig also had a passion for Texas sports, being one of the original P1 no matter where he lived he would find time to listen to The Ticket, a sports radio station founded in Dallas. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, San Antonio Spurs, and all things associated with the Texas Longhorns. During the Cowboy games, he often kept up lively group text conversations with friends, offering a running commentary that made everyone feel as though they were watching together, side by side.

While working with Father Richard Hall at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Craig converted to the Catholic faith. He was an active member of the parish, always ready to help anyone in need. He served on the Parish Council, Finance Council, and annual Jamaica Committee. He was instrumental in the successful renovation of the Parish Hall.

Craig is survived by his mother, Rolinda; his aunt, AlmaLee Kuehn; numerous cousins; and his many extended Laredo family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Dee; his sister, Kathy; his uncle, George Lawrence; and numerous cousins.

A Memorial Mass for Craig will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. If you wish, donations may be made to any organization that directly supports children.
