DAVID YORK SR. Mr. David York Sr. passed away on Wednesday, November 11 , 2015 in Laredo, Texas at the age of 82. Mr. York was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army the Anti Aircraft Artillery Crewman Unit from July 1953 up until his Honorable Discharge in 1955. During his years in the military he achieved the Rank of Corporal. He received numerous citations and decorations including the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the Good Conduct Medal. An avid baseball fan, he was a member of the Martin High School baseball team that placed 4th in the State Championship in 1952. He was also a member of a minor league baseball team that went on to win numerous championships. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 51 years of marriage Yolanda Gutierrez York. By his parents James York and Adela M. York. His brothers and sisters: Jose York, Eva York Pratt, Josefina Hedford and Betty Wilkin. He is survived by his children: David (Monica) York Jr. and Sandra York. His grandchildren: Joanna York, Sandra Lozano, David James York, Humberto Lozano, Alejandra Lozano and Diego Lozano. Also surviving his are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
