REV. DEACON JUAN GUADALUPE CERDA
Rev. Deacon Juan Guadalupe Cerda, 64, was called by Our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 26, 2016.
Deacon Juan passed away on the 12th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate peacefully and surrounded by his family at his residence.
Always dedicated to the service of his family, friends and his community, Deacon Juan was tireless in his service to those he ministered to and since the time he was ordained by the Most Rev. James A. Tamayo on June 26, 2004 and was assigned and continued to serve at his home parish of Santa Rita de Casia Catholic Church in Rio Bravo, Texas and Santa Monica Catholic Mission in El Cenizo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clemente Cerda.
His paternal grandparents, Manuel Cerda and Teodora Niño de Cerda.
Maternal grandparents, Andres Palomo and Gorgonia Sanchez de Palomo.
His brother, Manuel Cerda and by a sister Ana Elizabeth Vargas.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years of marriage, Guadalupe Cerda.
Children: Jaqueline (Jaime) Claudio, Cesar (Eugenia) Cerda, Nancy (Tomas) Sanchez, Jr., Miriam (Amado) Vasquez Jr. and Jeanette Cerda.
(16) grandchildren.
His mother: Irma Cerda.
Siblings: Gabino (Cristina) Cerda, Irma Cerda, Clemente Cerda and Gilberto (Yolanda) Cerda.
Also surviving him are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation and a Rosary, led by Mr. Raul Mendoza, the National President of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, were held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in the Hernandez, Lopez & Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 departing from the funeral home chapel to Santa Rita de Casia Catholic Church in Rio Bravo, Texas. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Janusz Glabinski. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
