Delia Montemayor Ayala 98, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Delia worked at The City of Laredo Health Department for 31 years and retired in 1995. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her favorite go to place on weekends was Danny's Restaurant where she enjoyed live music and dancing. However, what brought her the greatest joy was being surrounded by friends and family during the holiday gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Esteban V. Ayala, son Javier "Harvey" Ayala, grandsons Roberto "Bobby" Jimenez, Ruben Jaime Ayala, son in law Juan J. Gomez, her parents Adrian and Delfina Montemayor, sister Magdalena Gunnoe, brothers Alfredo, Adrian "Nati", and Javier Montemayor.
She is survived by her daughters: Sylvia (Juan) Gomez, Juanita (Manuel) Jimenez, and sons: Esteban (Mary) Ayala and Ruben Ayala.
Her grandchildren: Sandra (Martin) García, Melissa (Javier) Vedarte, Eduardo (Maricela) Jiménez, Bonnie Melendez (Arturo Millan), Cindy (Amador) Escudero, Esteban (Anita) Ayala Jr, Steven (Ema) Ayala, Robert Ayala, Delia (John) Johnson, Denise Ayala, Priscilla (Sergio) Salazar, Joe Lopez, Jorge Lopez, Ricky Ayala, Jesse Ayala, Danny Ayala , Ruby Ayala, Michelle Ayala, Denise Ayala, Javier(Shyanne)Ayala, Noelani Ayala, Orlando Ayala, and Audrey Ayala.
She is also survived by her sister Josie M. Perez and sister-in-law, Catalina Montemayor.
She was blessed with 49 great grandchildren and 22 great, great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
Special thanks to Altus Hospice and Healthcare Unlimited and staff. Caregivers: Angelica Mendez, Mary Valenzuela, and Sylvia de Alva. Also special thanks to her daughter, Sylvia Gomez, for caring for her the last several years.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Eduardo Jimenez, Robert Ayala, Esteban Ayala Jr. Martin García Jr, Steven Garcia, Javier Ayala Honorary Pallbearers are Amador Escudero, Arturo Millán and Steven Ayala.
