Obituary

DOLORES NEIRA CHAPA Dolores Neira Chapa, 75, passed away on August 1, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Chapa was born in Laredo where she lived most of her life until recently moving to San Antonio. She was a graduate of Laredo Community College and Texas A & I (Kingsville) in the 1970's. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in English with a minor in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Education. She started her career as a educator with L.I.S.D. by teaching English at L.J. Christian. She transitioned from a secondary-educator to a Learning & Disabilities Diagnostic Counselor & Supervisor where she travelled and visited several L.I.S.D. schools helping children with differing challenges and abilities. She eventually retired in 1995 with over 23 years of L.I.S.D. service. After retirement she became an entrepreneur and founded the Jehova-Jirah Christian Bookstore which she ran for over 10 years. She was actively affiliated with many Christian churches in Laredo during her life and participated in many church activities and functions helping advise and minister to anyone in need. She enjoyed the company of family including her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hector Chapa, Sr.; parents, Antonio and Dolores Neira; her siblings, Samuel, Jose and Santiago Neira and Maria Garza; Granddaughter, Melissa Chapa and Great-granddaughter, Jasmine Calderon. She is survived by daughters, Graciela, Diana, Delia Dolores and Leticia and son, Hector, Jr., Daughter-in-Law, Elma Guadalupe; Sons-in-Law, Horacio, Mario, and Lino; Granddaughters, Erika Lee, Erica Marisela, Elma Lydia, Patricia, Crystal, Laurie, Samantha, Destiny and Heather; Grandsons, Mario Jr., Marco, Matthew, Hector, III., Gilbert Sr., Christopher, Andrew, Daniel and Alex; Great-Grandchildren, Kristin, Marco Jr., Noe, Miguel, Daniel, Allyshea, Kayleigh, Gilbert Jr., Tristin, Mickayla, Wyatt, Victoria, Izaiah, Abigail, Alexis, Emery, Zoey, Ivan, Annabell, Nicholas, Carolina, Amber, Arianna, and Adrian. She is also survived by siblings, Elizabeth Perez, Antonia Sanville and Carlos Neira as well as various nieces, nephews, cousins and their children. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas St. And a Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. officiated by Pastor Sam Lopez of Christ Worship Center. A chapel service will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the funeral home chapel. Committal services and interment will immediately follow the service at the Laredo City Cemetery.
