Dora U. Peña, 96 born in Bustamante Nuevo Leon, was called by Our Lord, She passed away in her sleep. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 75 years +Edelmiro Pena, Her Parents, +Romulo Uvalle, +Guadalupe Perez de Uvalle, her siblings, +Romulo Uvalle, +Dimas Uvalle, +Santos Uvalle, Manuela Uvalle de Martinez, +Maria Uvalle de Gomez, & +Paulina Vasquez

She is survived by her children, Maria Luisa Peña, Artemio Eduardo (Guadalupe) Peña, San Juanita (Alfredo) Equigua, Yvonne (Ricardo) Andrade, her grandchildren, Jessica M. (Eloy) Del Barrio, Art (Alejandra) Pena, Jr., Yvette (Richard) Gomez, Vanessa Equigua, Valerie Equigua, Dr. Alfredo (Kimberly) Equigua, Vivian (Joel Lopez) Andrade, Ricardo (Abigail) Andrade, Jr. and 15 great grandchildren

Dora was loved by many. She was well known for her cooking, she famous handmade flour tortillas, her frijoles de cazuela. Her Tamales for Christmas, and her warm handmade Buñuelos for New Years’ Eve. She always had the house smelling like food. If a family member would show up at the house at 2am, she would be in the kitchen making them food. You would not leave her house in an empty stomach, or without a little plate for later. She loved animals, but mostly her canaries. She would have at least 4 canaries, and she made sure they were well taken care off. Dora was a very devoute woman who showed her children to work hard, to respect, and she always made sure we knew the love of God. She made sure we would all attend Mass every Sunday, and Holy Days of Obligation. She was devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She loved talking about her childhood days with her children. She would often visit her hometown Bustamante, and she would always take one of children, often it would be the youngest child. She always made sure her children had everything they needed. Giving them advice and love. When she became a grandmother, it was the most joyful moment. She loved all her grandchildren, and made sure to spoil them every chance she could. She would try to attend all school events. She was very proud of every grandchild. Would always give them her blessing.

Dora was the heart and rock of the family. She will be greatly missed by children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all family members near and fat. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral Service will be departing Monday, August 17, 2026. Holy Mass will be celebrated at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
