Also surviving him is his first wife and mother of his daughters, Virginia C. Rodriguez, who played a pivotal role in his early success, bringing four beautiful daughters into this world. Thank you to his longtime loyal employees, Hector Mendoza and Ignacio Hernandez. Last, but certainly not least, thank you to his lifelong friend, Mr. Mario Gonzalez, wife Rosa and family.

He had a great sense of humor and lived a long, happy adventurous life. One of his favorite songs was "My Way" and lived life on his terms. He loved the outdoors, motorcycles, traveling, eating out and simply being around other people. He was passionate about socializing with others and helped people through action and advice. Lute was well informed about local and national affairs and loved to debate. He was a voracious reader and was intrigued by historical events and figures.

He attended Martin H.S. and lived by the motto, "Once A Tiger, Always a Tiger", later continuing his education at LJC. He was an astute businessman who founded E. Garza Construction, his lifelong goal come true. He was civic-minded and participated in many community activities: Board member of Laredo Boys and Girls club, co-founder of Laredo Legend Riders, Board member of HUD, supporter of Laredo Crime Stoppers, and a myriad of other community affairs.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped make the last phase of the fight with his illness less difficult. We would like to recognize and thank doctors Ricardo Cigarroa and Milton Haber, and the entire team from Altus Hospice who were kind, compassionate, and treated him with utmost dignity and respect.

Finally, we are eternally grateful for the excellent care, dedication and concern provided by Dr. Mohsen Ghadimi-Mahani, always following up and available for consultation with family members. Lute always spoke kindly and admirably of Dr. Mahani and considered their relationship special.
