ELIDA MARTINEZ LOPEZ Elida M. Lopez, 86, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving sister joined the lord on December 3rd, 2012. Elida known by her grandkids as "Wa" was born on December 24th, 1925 in the El Tordillo Ranch, and resided in Laredo most of her life. She worked for Santos Oil Company for over 25 years. Before her devastating Alzheimer's disease Elida loved to serve her Parish Mother Cabrini Church, and her community. She is preceded in death by her parents Diego and Margarita Martinez. Brother Rodolfo (Amparo) Martinez. Sisters Penny (Pedro) Garcia, Maria Herminia (Benjamin) Dovalina. Brothers in-law Rogelio Torres, Mario Cortez, Edmundo Martinez, Lauro Parra and Juan Aguilar. She is survived by her loving children Luis (Maria Rosario) Lopez Jr., H. Homero (Elizabeth) Lopez, Jackie Lopez and a person who was like a son to her Robert Ramirez. Brothers and sisters Roque (Amelia) Martinez, Margarita (Mario +) Cortez, Mary Helen (Lauro +) Parra and Maria Lamar (Juan +) Aguilar. Grandchildren Jorge (Jasmine) Lopez, Esmeralda Lopez (Anthony Reyna) , Jeanette Lopez (Jessie Maldonado), Luis Miguel Lopez. Kimberly Lopez (Frank Espinoza), Hector H. Lopez and Victor Lopez. One great-grand daughter Arlenne Espinoza and many nephews, nieces, and beloved friends. The family thanks all who blessed "Wa" with joy, love, and companionship; her physicians Dr. Armando Hinojosa, and former physician Dr. Arturo Guajardo. Her home care assistants Chayo Diaz, Norma Saldana, Mari A La Torre, and Hortencia Gaona who cared for our mother unconditionally. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
