ELOY O. CANTU
Eloy O. Cantu, 89,was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cantu was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He was a alumni of St Joseph's Academy for Boys, he was a graduate of the "Class of 1953". After graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army and served from 1954 up until his discharge in 1956. He did his tour of duty in Japan and had achieved the rank of Specialist Third Class. After his tour of duty, he returned to Laredo married the love of his life and enlisted with the Army reserve. He later went on to receive a degree at Laredo State University.
He was employed with Uniroyal Tire Company as a test driver for over 23 years of service up until his retirement. His time after retirement was spent having family gatherings and spending quality time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. He was a great man who instilled moral values to his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who had come to know him.
Preceded in death was his loving wife of over 40 years of marriage Josefina I. Cantu.
His parents, father Julio Cantu Sr. and mother, Feliz H. Cantu.
Brothers; Evaristo (Alicia) Cantu of Seattle, WA., Jose Cantu, Ramiro (Rebecca) Cantu , Julio Cantu of San Antonio, TX and his sister Delia (Arnulfo) De Luna of Chicago, IL.
He is survived by sons; Eloy Omar (Liz) Cantu Jr., Julio Cesar (Christina) Cantu and his daughter Sylvia Cordy (Ruben J.) Flores.
His Grandchildren, Ruben J. Flores, Jr., Richard J. Flores, Evelyn Cantu, Robert Estrada, Joseph E. Cantu and Julie A. Cantu.
Also surviving him are nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 9, 2022 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Funeral Chapels, located at 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave . Holy Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full Military Honors and presentation of the United States Flag provided by the United States Army and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.
PALLBEARERS WERE: Ruben J. Flores Jr., Richard J. Flores, Saul Canales, Daniel Luna, Jesus Reyes and Brandon Valdez.
