ENCARNACION "CHON" TREVIñO JR.

January 1st, 1945 – September 17th, 2016
Encarnacion "Chon" Treviño Jr., 71 was called by the Lord on Saturday, September 17th, 2016, surrounded by his family in Laredo, Texas.
"Chon", as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was born on January 1st, 1945, in Laredo, Texas to Encarnacion Treviño Sr. and Juana "Juanita" Riojas.
His love for music started at the age of thirteen years old. He was a well known accordionist. He was the author, composer, and musical arranger of the famous cumbia "EL APOLLO 15"". He played with many bands which included: SON TROPICAL DE B. MENDOZA, CONJUNTO ESTRELLA, ORQUESTA DE RAY LOPEZ Y SUS FAVORITOS, FELIPE RIOS, CONJUNTO GUSTAVO CLAUDIO Y LOS CUATRO VIENTOS, ROEL CAVAZOS Y SU GRUPO, RAY GONZALEZ Y SUS CONJUNTO, FISH Y LOS FAVORITOS and MESQUITE BAND.
He dedicated forty-two years of service to Laredo Independent School District. He started at Leon Diaches Elementary School as school custodian. He then went to work at J.W. Nixon High School before transferring to Clarence L. Milton Elementary School where he became head custodian. His last years of his career with LISD were at ITV from which he retired.
Chon was also employed with Pro 8 News, as camera man. He loved being behind the camera and taking videos. He was a photographer and video camera man for wedding, quinceañeras, birthday parties and other special occasions. He also had a sound system, Coyote's Sound System, with his long life friend Juan "Coyote" Rodriguez. He recorded songs with his childhood friend Roberto "Robe" Juarez.
His biggest joy in life was his family. He truly loved being surrounded by his family and snd spending as much time as possible with them. He loved to have carnes asadas and play music.
He will be greatly missed. He touched so many lives in a very special way. He had a big heart and a great smile.
Chon was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daniel Zuniga; and mother-in-law, Inocente R. Flores.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Maria Teresa Treviño; son, Encarnacion Treviño III, daughter, Cordelia Treviño (Alonzo Ortiz); and father-in-law, Tomas C. Flores. Also surviving him are his cousins; Lupita "Lupe" Hernandez, Olivia Guzman Bello, Rose (Ramiro) Montenegro, Irma (Ramon) Valdez, all from San Antonio, Texas; Vicente (Celia) Garcia, Roberto Garcia and Adolfo (Juanita) Garcia, all from Laredo, Texas; sister-in-laws, Rebecca (Daniel+) Zuniga, Andrea (Bernard) Privette, Dora Luz Flores, Nalda (Jerry) Flores, Roxanna (Roberto) Cortinas, Alejandra (David+) Deliganis; brother-in-laws, Roberto (Paulita) Flores and Tomas (Eliza) Flores Jr.
Special thanks to the Santa Rita Home Health Services, Dr. Oscar Gutierrez-Vizuet, Dr. Fernando Sanchez, Dr. Maria Monette Regalado, Dr. Benson Huang, ICU 2nd Floor and ICU Step down nurses and staff at LMC, Dr. Pablo Treviño – wound care and Staff.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
