Obituary

ENRIQUE TOMAS DE LA GARZA
First class teacher, leader and parent: call him Enrique, Kike, Henry or Daddy-o, but one thing will never change- the fact that he has made a difference in the lives of thousands of Laredo's citizens. As a graduate of Martin High School and Texas A & I University Kingsville, one of his earliest positions was Director of the LISD Migrant Program. After that, he was a teacher at Christen Jr. High School and Cigarroa High School, from where he retired. He was also a Silva Method instructor under the late Jose Silva. A member and officer of various organizations including Laredo Gun Club, Laredo Transportation Association, Laredo Area Retired Employees, Epoca de Oro and Los Caballeros Extraordinarios, and an Ambassador for the City of Laredo, he exemplified the idea of participating in community affairs. He loved to read, research and write and most of all he loved to share his expertise selflessly and always with a soft pun to make sure he got his point across. He was a natural-born problem solver, companion and friend who was very proud of his heritage and home town, Laredo!
