ENRIQUE VILLANUEVA
Enrique Villanueva, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Enrique was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born in Bishop, Texas on July 15, 1933 to Antonio and Hilaria (Barrera) Villanueva.
Enrique was a veteran of the Korean War, in which he proudly served with the United States Army HQ 506th Infantry Regiment. Corporal Villanueva was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He received his Honorable Discharge, in 1955, and in 1961, he received his Honorable Discharge, from the Army Reserve.
After his tour of duty, he returned home to marry the love of his life and sweetheart, Olivia Valdez. Enrique was a car inspector for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement, in 1999. His life was blessed with 65 wonderful years of marriage, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Enrique was a good man and will be truly missed by everyone whose life he touched.
Enrique his preceded in death by his wife, Olivia (Valdez) Villanueva, his parents, Antonio and Hilaria Villanueva, sisters, Esperanza (Pana) Villanueva, Consuelo (Chelo) Cadena, and brother, Felix Villanueva.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Enrique (Grace) Villanueva, Jr., Velma (Roberto) Cruz, Jr., Abraham (+Irasema) Villanueva.
His grandchildren: Cindy (Rafa) Lopez, Jr., Liza Villanueva, Grace (Vito) Garcia, Roberto (Jennifer) Cruz, III, Xavier- Enrique Cruz, Abraham (Kate) Villanueva, Jr., Rene (Rachel) Villanueva, Jaime (Molly) Villanueva.
His great-grandchildren: Kailey, Alexa, and Emma Lopez, Vito, Jr. and Ava Garcia, Kianna, Analise, and Khalisee Cruz, Bear Villanueva, Ulysses and Genevieve Villanueva. Sister, Teresa (Tere) Medina, brother, Antonio (Patricia) Villanueva, Jr., Sister- in- law, Belia Villanueva, and Brother- in- law, Pablo Cadena.
Also serving him are nieces, nephews, cousins, in- laws, and numerous loving relatives and friends.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at
Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston Street at San Bernardo Avenue.
Departing at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate a Holy Mass at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 12: 00 noon. Internment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
