Obituary

ERNESTO MARES

Ernesto Mares, 91, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.

Mr. Mares was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and was a long life resident of Laredo, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Virginia Mares.
His beloved wife, Amelia G. Mares, who passed away on April 18, 2025.
Daughter, Graciela Mares.
Also preceding him are his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Luis E. (Concepcion) Mares, Blanca A. (Domingo) Guillen, Gerardo G. (Sonia) Mares, Maria Isabel (Jose Luis) Rosas and Gabriela Mares.
16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a vigil of the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave . Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS: Miguel Gaytan, Ernesto Morales, Rafael Herrera, Manuel Blas, Jose Luis Rosas Jr., Daniel Rodriguez and Jose Luis Rosas.
