ESTHER H. HERNANDEZ On Thursday, November 5, our beloved mother, Esther H. Hernandez, was called to heaven to be by God's side, after an 18 year battle with cancer. Our mother was a devout Christian woman who had the most generous and loving heart. She raised five children to be devoted, strong, and loving people. Mom was always there for her family. Whether it was at parties, award days, quinceaeras, hard times, weddings, births, or funerals, she was always there to support and comfort you. Our mother, Esther, worked in Laredo Independent School District, for 37 years, this included the LISD Warehouse, Leyendecker Elementary School, Christen Middle School and Lamar Middle School. She was very proud of having worked in LISD as a teacher aide, attendance clerk, and registrar. Everyone who knew Esther, always knew that she was kind and giving to everyone. She was the most unselfish person you could ever meet. She was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to help anyone in need. Our mother, Esther, enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid bingo player. She enjoyed spending her Sundays accompanied by her son, Nino and her bingo friends. Esther also enjoyed her lunch dates with her LISD friends. She also loved conversing with family and friends over coffee and pan dulce. Our mother, Esther, was the best mother anyone could ask for. She taught us by example. Her life was devoted to her special needs son, Nino. She always knew that her most precious gift in life was to dedicate herself in caring for Nino and raising her children to be the best they could be. Although we will truly miss her, Heaven has gained a new angel. We are deeply grateful to God, first and foremost, to all the family members, friends and neighbors, all of Esther's physicians and caregivers including, Dr. Michael White, Dr. Claudia Mercado, Nurses on Wheels, and everyone who helped and prayed for her in her time of need. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015, from 4 to 9 p.m., and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m., in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapel, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 11:05 a.m., on Monday, November 9, 2015, departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am, at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. www.HernandezLopezFH.com
