Obituary

EZEQUIEL FEDERICO GARZA SR.

Ezequiel Federico Garza Sr., passed away peacefully, at his home, on March 11, 2022, at the age of 89, in Laredo, Texas. Ezequiel met the love of his life, Josefina, and lived happily together for 59 years of marriage. Ezequiel was born and raised in Laredo, later joined the military in 1953 and was stationed in Fairfield England with the 144th Infantry Division. Ezequiel later served multiple stints with the US National Guard. In civilian life, Ezequiel worked at the Laredo AFB, the Webb County Road and Bridge Department and later the Casablanca Golf Course.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sabas Garza and Desidora Garza.

Sisters, Hilda Duarte (Antonio) and Margarita Elia Garza.

Brothers, Hector J. Garza (Rebecca) and Sabas Garza.


Ezequiel is survived by his loving wife, of 59 years of marriage, Josefina G. Garza.

C hildren,  Ezequiel Garza Jr., his wife Maria Del Carmen Garza, Hilda Rubio, her husband Albert Rubio II, Juan Jose Garza, his wife Kathryn Strauss and his grandchildren, Albert Rubio III, Hilary Rubio, Adrian Rubio (Alexis Martinez) and Andrew Garza.

Also surviving him are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.


Ezequiel made many friends throughout his life and is fondly remembered for his friendly demeanor, his optimistic outlook and his mariachi singing.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 18, 2022 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed at the Laredo City Cemetery.
