Mr. FERNANDO QUINTERO GARZA, Sr. (Maestro), as he was known, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2017 at the age of 85. He was born and raised in Laredo, Texas.
Fernando, a proud veteran, served his country from November 17, 1952 to November 02, 1954, with the United States Army as a Pvt. 1st Class Tank Driver with the 1st Armored Division "OLD IRONSIDES", 32nd Armored Tank Infantry Division assigned near the 38th Parallel during the Korean Conflict earning the GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL and the NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL.
In his earlier years Fernando worked for Felipe's Floor Co. He later worked as a Glazer, for Safety Glass Co. and Gateway Glass & Mirror Co., from which he retired in 1996. He was a devoted Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, who will be missed dearly. He enjoyed playing his accordion during family gatherings and serenading his beloved family member on their birthday.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Nicolasa Sarabia Garza, and daughter Rebecca Garza; his parents Telesforo Garza and Justina Q. Garza; Sister, Feliberta Garcia, brothers, Francisco Q. Garza and Ramiro Q. Garza.
He is survived by his children Lupita G. (Frank) Fuentes, Jr., Fernando Garza,
Jr. (Kenosha, Wi.) Mary R. Garza, Reynaldo (Gina) Garza, Margarita G. (Victor) Rosas, Gerardo Garza, Alejandra G. (Arnoldo) Puente.
Sister, Alicia Arriaga, Somerset, Tx., Brothers: Telesforo Q. Garza, Jr. (Sweeny, Tx.) and Tomas (Alma) Garza of Laredo, Tx., Sisters-In-Law: Rosalinda D. Garza, Librada Calderon, Josefa (Raymundo) De Hoyos, Maria Anaya (Oak Creek, Wi) and Maria Luisa Gonzalez (Grand Prairie, Texas).
