Fidel
Perez
February 11, 2026
Fidel Perez, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Laredo, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.
Fidel was born on March 24, 1939, in Guanajuato, Mexico, to Nicolas Perez and Angelita Muñoz. From a young age, he learned the importance of hard work, humility, and family—values that shaped the man he became. Fidel made Laredo, Texas his home for 55 years, where he worked proudly as a construction worker. In his younger years, he traveled throughout the United States, working various construction jobs, alongside his brother Francisco. He eventually returned to Laredo, working for Carlos Castillo Construction in the 1990s and later at The Villarreal Ranch in Zapata, Texas, where he build homes for yearly hunters. Fidel took great pride in his work and believed in earning an honest day's pay through dedication and effort. Fidel was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and his family was the center of his life.
He is survived by his children: Fidel Perez Jr. (Patricia), Martha (Cesario), Pedro (Maria), and Erika (Letty).
He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Ashley Arlene, Alyssa Annette, Felix Jr., Fidel III, Israel Rodolfo, and Ethan, as well as his beloved greatgrandchildren Daniela Chanel, Dayana Karen, and Fidel Daniel, who brought him endless joy.
He is also survived by his sisters Eugenia (Amadeo) and Maria (Santiago†), and his sister in law Graciela (Francisco†).
Fidel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Josefina Perez, his mother Angelita Muñoz, his sisters Juanita and Seferina, and his brothers Alfredo, Alberto, and Francisco.
In his younger years, Fidel enjoyed hunting and fishing, passions that reflected his love for the outdoors. He treasured time spent talking with his sons and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and a cold beer. His daily routine included watching The Price Is Right, the Animal Channel, and faithfully tuning in to the 5 p.m. news.
Fidel will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his honesty, his quiet sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family.
Visitation will be held on February 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7:45 p.m. at Hernandez Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston Street, Laredo, Texas. Funeral services will take place on February 19, 2026, departing from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at the City of Laredo Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to his caregiver and partner in crime, Ms. Bibiana Barajas, and to Mrs. Doria, Carino Home Health and Vara Hospice nurses, whose compassion and care treated Fidel not as a patient, but as family. May the Lord grant Fidel eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who went before him, and may God bring comfort and strength to all who loved him during this time of sorrow. Amen.
