FIDEL CARLOS RAMIREZ
Fidel Carlos Ramirez, 89, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022.
Mr. Ramirez was born in Laredo, Texas and was a li fe-long resident. He was a beloved son, husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Anita Ramirez.
His beloved wife,of 28 years, Donna S. Ramirez.

Son-in-Law, Raul Teran.
Step-Son, Richard Campos.
He is survived by his children, Fidel "Butch" (Zita) Ramirez, Jr., Anna Laura Teran, Jorge Luis (Amy) Ramirez, Alberto G. (Norma) Ramirez, Ana Luisa Fernandez, James (Michelle) Campos, Steven (Veronica) Campos, John (Mimi) Campos and Michelle (Buck) McKinney.
Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mother of his children, Laura M. Ramirez.
Sister, Margie Lopez.
Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.
He attended several area schools including St. Peters, St. Joseph's Academy and graduated from Martin High School in 1951. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War as a sonar man aboard the U.S.S. Chauncey DD667. He was honorably discharged in 1955, having earned the National Defense Medal, Navy Occupational Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 stars, and the United Nations Service Medal.
After his Navy service he enrolled at Laredo Junior College and transferred to Texas A&M University and graduated in 1958 with a B.S. in Agricultural Education. He was an Vocational Agricultural Teacher at Martin High School for several years. It was during that time that he helped gather a group of individuals to form what is now known as L.I.F.E. (Laredo International Fair & Exposition). He was recruited by Texas A&M as a teacher trainer in the Dominican Republic. Upon returning, he was employed by Laredo-Webb County Community Action Agency as a planner, neighborhood service director, and operations officer. In 1982, he became a licensed auctioneer and operated Fidel C. Ramirez and associates. He enjoyed ranching, traveling and retired to the Texas hill country near Bandera. He was a member, director, vice-president of the Ranchers and Land Owners Association of Texas for over 20 years. in 2018, he was selected to join 40 other veterans on Honor Flight #009 to Washington D.C. to enjoy all of the veteran monuments and other historical sights.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS WILL BE- Fidel "Butch" Ramirez, Jr., Jorge L. Ramirez, Albert G. Ramirez, Louie Ramirez, Carlos J. Ramirez, Albert G. Ramirez, Jr., James Campos and John Campos.
HONORARY PALLBEARERS- Chuck Block, Jack Peterson, Ernesto Garza-Gongora, Victor Mora, Lucas Galvan, Jimmy Treviño, Rodolfo Dodier, Jr. and Raul Aguilar.
