FILIBERTO SIERRA, SR. Filiberto Sierra, Sr., a retired Laredo Police Officer/Investigator, serving for 27 years and also served proudly in the U.S. Army, died February 23, 2014, at the age of 81- he lived with his daughter, Isabel and her family. Mr. Sierra was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a resident here all his life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Amparo (Sierra) Flores, his brother-in-law, Elias Flores; sisters, Magdalena Sierra, Josefina S. Martinez and Luz Sierra; brother, Vicente Sierra and his parents, Manuel and Rosa Sierra. He is survived by his first wife, Connie (Malacara) Sierra; sons, Filiberto Sierra, Jr., Filiberto Sierra, III., Vicente (Vanessa) Sierra; daughters, Rosa S. (Reynaldo) Moncivais, Sr., Amparo Sierra, Angelica Sierra, Isabel (Reynaldo) Ornelas, Elizabeth Lucky (Yvonne) Sierra, Christy (Kevin) Gordon. Also surviving him are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Filiberto, who dedicated his life to his children, was a very caring and giving father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he will always be remembered as the greatest father who ever existed. His memory will continue to live in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to our sister, his daughter, Isabel and her family who cared for him until he was called by our Lord to his eternal reward. We are forever grateful. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 am on Thursday, February 27, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
