Frances Elizabeth Chamberlain Laurel June 7, 1945 – December 17, 2025
We kindly invite family and friends to celebrate the life of Frances Elizabeth Chamberlain Laurel, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on Friday, January 2, 2026. Frances passed peacefully in her sleep, embraced by God's grace. She lived 80 full and accomplished years, guided by determination, intelligence, and an unwavering sense of independence. Frances was an avid traveler who explored extensively throughout the United States and internationally, including Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, Germany, France, Greece, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Austria. She was known for her sharp intellect, practical wisdom, and loyal friendships. Among her closest friends were †Father Charles M. McNaboe and Ruby Segura. A distinguished student, Frances graduated early and at the top of her class from Martin High School in 1961. She pursued higher education at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she met the late Dr. Hector E. Laurel and began raising her family. Frances and Hector worked together for many years in their dental practice in Laredo. Thereafter, she proudly earned her Bachelor's of Accounting degree from Laredo State University. Her professional career continued as she climbed to Vice President of First Federal Savings & Loan of Laredo, Falcon National Bank of Laredo, and IBC of Laredo. She retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Star of Texas Credit Union of Austin in 2019. A dedicated professional, she was known for her tireless work ethic, early mornings, and meticulous attention to detail. She lived in several other Texas communities, including Houston, Carrizo Springs, Cedar Park, Austin, Cibolo, and San Antonio. Frances was a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the Martha Washington Society, and a board member of Bethany House of Laredo. In her personal life, she found great joy in painting, sewing, cooking,gardening and watching her San Antonio Spurs. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Chamberlain, and her daughter Audrey Denise Laurel. She is survived by her siblings Rose Marie Snow (†Steve Snow) and John Louis Chamberlain (Nancy Mann Chamberlain); her children Eduardo Miguel Laurel, Deborah Louisa Laurel, Mary Frances Laurel Dryden (Sean Dryden), and Cristina Lee Hollstein (Halid Hrasnica); her grandchildren Denise Elizabeth Seidel (Timothy Seidel), Anna Camille Rodriguez (Paul Rodriguez), David Joaquin Dryden (Taylor Dryden), Katherine Rose Dryden, Helena Luise Hollstein, Maria Gabriela Dryden, and Alyana Nadia Hrasnica; and her great-grandchildren Ava Marie Seidel, Sophia Hope Seidel, Eleni Catherine Seidel, Zoe Justine Seidel, and Camille Adriana Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and a vigil of the deceased will be held at 10 a.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
