Obituary

Francisco "Panchito "Farias passed away peacefully at the age of 96 years old surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Farias was born in Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico. He had been a lifelong resident of Laredo Tx.

Mr. Farias was a hardworking man. He was a butcher for many years until his retirement. He worked in Nuevo Laredo at El Mercado.  In Laredo he worked at Alfredo Santos, Tony Vela, Adame's, and Carlos Puente. Mr. Farias enjoyed baseball, dancing, and music. He played baseball for many years in Nuevo Laredo. He was a shortstop. In Laredo, TX he played softball, where he was a pitcher. His favorite team were the Texas Rangers.

Mr. Farias was also a man of God. The family were members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mr. Farias was a Cursillista at San Francisco Javier. Most recently he became a member of San Luis Rey Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Francisca "Panchita" Farias, his parents Francisco and Felipa Farias, his sisters Luisa Torres and Paula Farias, Grandson Ascension Flores Jr.  and his son in law Juan Reynaldo Casarez.

He is survived by his children Francisco (Maggie)Farias III, Leticia (Juan Reynaldo Casarez +), Laura Alicia Diaz, Edmundo (Rosa) Farias, Eduardo Farias, Maria Guadalupe Cecilia Quintero, Sara Alicia (Carlos) Vega, and Guillermina Farias. His pride and joy were his 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his sisters Ninfa and Eulalia Farias plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to thank Altus hospice of Laredo for the excellent care their father received.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 23, 2023 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, located at 800 Boston, Laredo, Tx.  A Liturgy of the Word was officiated by Rev. Deacon Leonard Aguillon in the funeral chapel before committal services and interment which followed at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

PALLBEARERS WERE: Alonzo Alexis Diaz, Ignacio Valverde III, Carlos Vega, Carlos Vega Jr, Ruben Villarreal III, Jeremy Cazares, Robert Espinoza and Victor Espinoza III.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave.
