GABRIEL MARTINEZ Gabriel Martinez,85, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 14, 2012 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Martinez was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, He was a veteran of World War II in which he served with the United States Army with the 4505th Squardon from 1945 up until his Honorable Discharge in 1947. For his service in WWII was decorated with the American Theater World War II Victory Medal. After his tour of duty, he returned to Laredo and joined Laredo's Finest. He became part of the Laredo Police Department and served for over 39 years, most of his years were as a warrant officer in the Municipal Court. He is survived by his loving wife Elsa M. Martinez. By his daughters Linda (Pedro) Cadena, Ana (Joe) Villarreal. His son Gabriel Martinez Jr. Brothers and sisters: Humberto (Gloria) Martinez, Consuelo (Carlos +) Lopez and Gloria (Tomasa+) Gonzalez. Also surviving him are grandchildren, nephews, nieces, numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Religious Service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesay, September 19, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Laredo City Cemetery.
