GALA MONTEMAYOR SANTILLAN
Gala Montemayor Santillan, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Santillan was born October 16, 1927, in Catarina, Texas and was a long life resident of Laredo, Texas. She was affectionately called Mama, Mamita, Grandma, Guelita, Little Grandma and Galita. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed dancing, especially mariachi music. She was a wonderful and loving person to all. When she was young, she worked with her brother in the cotton fields. After marriage, she worked as a waitress at the Greyhound Café, Southland Café and at the Deliganis Cafeteria. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by husband, of 67 years of marriage, Carlos Santillan Bravo.
Son, Jaimito Santillan.
Brothers, Anselmo Montemayor and Reynaldo Montemayor.
Sisters, Vela Chavez, Celestina Palomo, Estela Palomo and Juanita Flores.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Angelina Ruiz (Jesus+), Carlos Alberto Santillan (Lali), Jose Luis Santillan (Blanca) Ruben Santillan (Susana), Jaime Santillan (Melinda) Araceli S. Vallarta, (Deacon Miguel), Martha E. Trevino, (Gilberto) and Israel Santillan (Monica).
Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends.
Due to the present health crisis, services will be limited to the immediate family only. A Vigil of the Deceased and Rosary, officiated by Rev. Deacon Miguel Vallarta, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapel, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
