GERARDO CORTEZ Gerardo Cortez, 55, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Cortez was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Mexico and had been a resident of Laredo for sometime. Mr. Cortez is survived by his children, Gerardo Cortez Perez and Gloria E. Cortez Perez. Parents, Salvador Cortes Barragan and Yolanda D. De Cortes. Siblings, Martha (Eduardo, dec'd) C. Vela, Salvador Cortes D., Yolanda (Jim) C. Ketter and Twin Brother, Hugo Cortez D. Former Wife, Gloria Perez Saavedra. Also surviving him are uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
