Obituary

GERARDO "KOKI" GALLARDO
Gerardo "Koki" Gallardo, age 58 of Laredo, TX was called to heaven on Monday April 18, 2016. Gerardo proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a Field Artillery Cannoneer in the Foxtrot Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was a jack of many trades and loved passing on his knowledge and wisdom. Gerardo was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose M. Gallardo; his mother, Esther P. Gallardo; brothers, Arturo Ortiz and Jose M. Gallardo; and sister, Griselda Ortiz.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elva Gallardo, of 39 years, whom was his soul mate; they met as children and were high school sweethearts. Together they had 5 children, Evalinda N. Tristan, Cynthia D. Gallardo, Michael J. Gallardo, Kristy M. Gallardo, and Gerardo Gallardo Jr. He welcomed 12 grandchildren, Sarahalizia, Nathan, Natalia, Zoephia, Sadie, Jonathan, Madison, Trey, Nick, Hailey, Daniel, and Ella. His siblings, Orelia Ortiz, Alfonso Ortiz, Sergio Ortiz, Minerva Vital, and Rodolfo Ortiz.

Also surviving him are nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.

Gerardo believed in a life beyond this one and has gone on to explore his next adventure, this was just his temporary home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Laredo City Cemetery.
