GILBERTO SANTA CRUZ
Gilberto Santa Cruz, 79, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 in Laredo, Texas.
Mr. Santa Cruz was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and friend who was one of the greatest storytellers ever. His passion was music and playing the guitar and was always serenating his wife with his songs. Since a very young age, Mr. Santa Cruz was a migrant worker who, as a result, enjoyed working in different places. He later became a truck driver and continued his endeavors. He loved his K9 companions, Fido and Molly. He enjoyed gardening and the great outdoors. He spent as much time as possible fishing. He was also a handyman who could fix just about anything he would get his hands on. Last, but not least, he was passionate about turning on the grill and cooking out. He often prepared his favorite recipes for his family. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, of over 56 years of marriage, Maria Rosa Linda Santa Cruz.
Children, Gilbert Santa Cruz Jr. (Michelle) from Arcadia, Ohio, Araceli Santa Cruz, of San Antonio, Idalia Garza, Norma Garza (Mathew Garza), Alberto Santa Cruz, Anna Villarreal (Hector) and Patricia Hernandez (Roel).
Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Siblings, Manuel Santa Cruz, Jose Santa Cruz, Rogelio Santa Cruz, Maria Cerda and Eva Aguilar.
Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many friends.
Following the Ordinance by the State of Texas, visitations will be limited to 40 people inside our funeral home.
It is preferred for minor children not be allowed to attend services.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services will be held on a later date.
