Obituary

Our beloved Gloria Elena Lopez, 63, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.

Ms. Lopez was born in Laredo, Texas where she lived with loved ones and raised a family for many years before moving to San Antonio, Texas where she has lived for the last eleven years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma Flores Lopez and Agustin Lopez; her sons Noe Lopez and Michael David Lopez; her daughter Gloria Elena Guadalupe Lopez; her sister SanJuanita Soden; and her brother Homero Rodriguez.

She is survived by her daughter Teena Michelle Lopez (Frankie Lewis Harrison) and her son Shane Alexander Mejia (Maria Guadalupe Mejia); her grandchildren Tiani Renee Lopez, Priscilla Nicole Garcia (Jose Vasquez), Emma Noelle Garcia, Shane Alexander Mejia Jr., Gwyneth Alexandra Mejia, and Alexa Michelle Lopez; her great grandchildren Eli Noe Vasquez and Olivia Joy Vasquez; her sisters Maria de Lourdes Lopez (Jose Ricardo Quintana), Leticia Collett (Michael Collett), and Sylvia Miller (Lorenzo Miller); her brothers Rene Rodriguez (Trinidad Rodriguez), Jose Agustin Lopez, and Luis Lauro Lopez (Isela Lopez); and her brother in law John William Soden Jr.

Also surviving her are very loved nephews and nieces, cousins, and other relatives and many friends.

Ms. Lopez was cherished by the many who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a rare soul who brought kindness, laughter, and light to all whom she knew. She was always ready and willing to be a source of strength and comfort to anyone who needed her or those undergoing a struggle. The world truly is a sadder place without her. She will be missed and never forgotten by the many who continue to love her so very much.

We would like to thank Dr. Matthew Butler and staff at Mays Cancer Center, UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 6 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
